The meeting was attended online by Commission member M. Tillabayev, as well as staff members of the Ombudsman’s Office.
During the session, representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan considered a total of 13 issues, including the right to qualified medical care, the consequences of early marriage in the context of international human rights standards, the protection of the rights of convicted persons, as well as procedural matters related to the activities of the CIS Human Rights Commission.
In his statement, the representative of Uzbekistan emphasized that comprehensive reforms are being actively implemented in the country’s healthcare sector. In particular, it was noted that the right of citizens to receive a guaranteed scope of medical care at the expense of the state has been constitutionally enshrined, patients’ rights have been comprehensively regulated, strategic directions in healthcare development have been defined, targeted programmes for specific diseases and population groups have been adopted, and specialized legal mechanisms in areas such as reproductive health, transplantation, and donation are being further developed.
The important role of the Ombudsman and national human rights institutions in protecting rights in this field was also highlighted.
In addition, participants from Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan exchanged views on best practices in ensuring human rights.
