Rehabilitation Aids Provided to Convicts with Disabilities at the Initiative of the Ombudsman’s Regional Representative

During the “Ombudsman School” events and monitoring visits conducted by the Ombudsman’s Regional Representative at Penal Colonies No. 4, 5 and 11 in Navoi Region, the social protection needs of convicts were examined.

As a result of interviews with the convicts, it was established that persons with disabilities required 9 wheelchairs, 8 special canes for persons with visual impairments, 5 walking aids, 9 walking canes, 13 crutches and 2 prostheses.

At the initiative of the Ombudsman’s Regional Representative and with the assistance of the Navoi Regional Main Department of the National Agency for Social Protection, all of the required technical rehabilitation aids were delivered to the penal colonies.

Most importantly, the appeals were heard, the needs were identified, and practical results were achieved.
