The event, held in an online format, brought together more than 150 representatives of the state authorities, Parliament, judiciary, legal profession, international organizations, academic and expert community of Kazakhstan, as well as leading higher education institutions from Kazakhstan and abroad.

The conference discussed the role of constitutional reforms in strengthening the rule of law, ensuring the effective protection of human rights and freedoms, and promoting sustainable development. Participants also exchanged views on the experience of constitutional reforms in a number of countries and current trends in constitutional development.

The Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Feruza Eshmatova, also participated in the event online.

In her remarks, the Ombudsman emphasized that the revised Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan recognizes human dignity as the highest value and further strengthens the principles of the rule of law, as well as the guarantees for ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms. She also noted that ensuring and protecting human rights has been enshrined in the Constitution as a priority duty of the State, and that these constitutional provisions are now being consistently reflected in newly adopted legislation and law enforcement practice.
