The level of legal awareness among students in general education institutions regarding human rights and freedoms is being enhanced
Efforts to familiarise students with their rights and responsibilities, foster respect for the law, explain the importance of compliance with legal requirements, and develop the skills to apply this knowledge in everyday life are continuing.

As part of these efforts, “Ombudsman Hour” lessons are being held at a number of general education institutions across the country to improve young people’s legal awareness.

The latest “Ombudsman Hour” sessions were conducted by regional representatives of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman) in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Navoi, Namangan, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, Fergana, Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions. The classes used interactive methods, including video materials, open dialogue with students, and analysis of real-life situations.

During the sessions, students were given concrete examples explaining respect for human dignity and the observance of personal, political, social and other human rights.

In addition, through video clips, participants were told which government bodies they can turn to if their rights are violated, what kind of assistance the Ombudsman can provide in protecting human rights in various situations, and how to use the internet and social media without infringing on the rights of others.

Students also learned about cybercrimes, which are criminal acts committed using computers, phones, the internet and other digital technologies, and, using real-life examples, were taught how to recognize such threats and avoid exposure to negative influences.

Students received answers to their questions on the topics of the classes and exchanged opinions.
