Open dialogues with convicted persons were held at Penal Colonies No. 10 and No. 2 in Kashkadarya Region, Penal Colonies No. 12 and No. 4 in Navoi Region, Penal Colony No. 1 in Bukhara Region, Pre-Trial Detention Facility No. 9 in Surkhandarya Region, and Settlement Colony No. 38 in Samarkand Region. Nearly 500 persons held in these institutions participated in the events.
Responsible officials from regional probation departments and territorial administrations of the National Agency for Social Protection participated in the open dialogues and provided necessary legal and social information to persons serving sentences, including those preparing for release.
In particular, explanations were provided regarding the Ombudsman’s activities aimed at ensuring human rights in closed institutions, the right of convicted persons and detainees to submit appeals, and the procedures for reviewing such appeals.
Participants were also informed about the rights and guarantees established by legislation in the field of execution of sentences, the activities of the probation service, and social support mechanisms available after release. In particular, legal explanations were provided on employment opportunities, vocational training, medical examinations, financial assistance, and reintegration into society.
During the events, participants received answers and legal advice from specialists regarding issues of concern to them. Mobile receptions were also organized in some institutions, during which appeals from convicted persons and detainees were received, and appropriate measures were identified to address the issues raised.
