Women’s Appeals Resolved within the “Equality and Respect” Platform in Surkhandarya region
Within the framework of the “Equality and Respect” platform launched at the initiative of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (ombudsman), an open dialogue was held in Surkhandarya region with women affected by violence.

The “Legal Aid Bus” event, organized at the Surkhandarya Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Adaptation of Women, was attended by the regional representative of the Ombudsman in Surkhandarya region, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan D.N. Suvanova, as well as representatives of relevant agencies.

Currently, 7 women and their 15 children are residing at the center. Some of them have been undergoing rehabilitation there for one month, while others for up to three months, while also learning professions. One of the women residing at the center reported that she had been employed, while some others had started earning income through confectionery activities.

During the event, an open dialogue was held with women affected by violence, and their concerns were heard. Explanations were provided regarding state protection, legal and psychological assistance, as well as existing opportunities related to education, employment, entrepreneurship, and housing.

Most importantly, after the meeting, individual conversations were held with the women and their appeals were received. In particular, specific measures were identified and implemented regarding all issues raised by them.

Following the event, the women residing at the center held individual consultations with qualified psychologists. Psychological sessions aimed at emotional recovery and overcoming fear and insecurity were conducted.
